The history behind ELIZA is surprisingly human after 8 tries

This is probably obvious to veterans here but it clicked for me only recently. prompts got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

I tried this in Madrid with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more then the perfect plan.
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions

Honestly, great taste. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. My friend tried it in Buenos Aires and had the opposite result

I am saving this for the next time I overthink eliza. For me it came down to the practice run

Glad you shared it; small wins count. I learned that one the expensive way. A small test case would make this easier to trust

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. I would test it for 10 days before deciding
