Notes from a very normal first week with Unpopular Opinions
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
I started this because my commute felt a little stuck, and culture seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 2 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. The quiet Sunday version is even more interesting.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

This has cozy competence written all over it. Glad you shared the messy version too.

Great point, especially the part about notes. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

That last line is excellent. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a trailhead.

This is one of those ideas that looks great online and falls apart on Tuesday. A little friction removed goes a long way.

I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

That would annoy me more than it helped. This pairs weirdly well with mango sticky rice.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. My friend tried it in Jakarta and had the opposite result.

I like this more than the top-level advice.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. I am curious whether food still feels good next month.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether unpopular stayed easy. The gentle part is easy to underestimate.
