I finally understand why Cycling people care about routes from a neighborhood park
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. bikes got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.
I tried this in Warsaw with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. The gentle part is easy to underestimate.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a trailhead.

@coderMender40 I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. That is where the boring checklist helps.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error. Recovery is training too.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. I am curious whether maintenance still feels good next month.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

I am cheering for this update. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the corner shop. Recovery is training too.
