Mental Health · by Jack Taylor · 2026-10-08

A surprisingly useful lesson from the corner shop without making it complicated

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Mental Health feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

The kindness in this post is lovely. My friend tried it in São Paulo and had the opposite result.

I needed the reminder to start smaller.

@haruto-70 That is fair, but I still worry about maintenance.

This is the gentle version of my rant.

I would love a follow-up example.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. This pairs weirdly well with lentil soup.

This reminds me of something a friend in Manila mentioned. The gentle constraint is probably the real story.
