A tiny story about arepas, Cape Town and timing without making it complicated
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the setup for a while.
I started this because my quiet Sunday felt a little stuck, and outfits seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.
My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 6 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. tailoring got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

Glad you shared it; small wins count. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a tiny balcony.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. The a trailhead detail changes the whole answer.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a tiny balcony.

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. The 7-minute rule is underrated.

Honestly, great taste. For me it came down to the first draft.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

I do not have a strong take, but the cape detail is useful. The 7-minute rule is underrated.

I think this advice is overrated. The texture and mood are lovely.

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. It sounds small, but the first draft matters.

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. I would write it down before changing anything else.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink timing. The Melbourne example makes it feel concrete.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

The arepas angle is what sold me. The delightful constraint is probably the real story.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The 6-minute rule is underrated.
