When budgeting stops feeling new

Tiny progress is still progress. Cheesy, but it helped me keep going when budgeting stopped feeling new.

I tried this in Cairo with a friend, and we both found that the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

really good advice, and it feels doable. The commute version is even more interesting

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. My friend tried it in Kuala Lumpur and had the opposite result

@ng_comet I am stealing that phrase

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines

Can you expand on that a bit?

Thanks that actually helped

I'd test it for two days before deciding. Keeping your options open is underrated.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending.

I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are.

I'd put more weight on expectations.

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger then the post suggests. It sounds small, but the conversation matters. A boring plan you can keep beats an optimized plan you abandon

The practical constraints probably matter most here.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 8 months. I noticed the same thing in Nairobi

I'd put more weight on expectations. That's where a boring checklist helps.

I noticed the same thing in Seoul.

I think both things can be true

The winter version is even more interesting.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. That is the kind of detail beginners miss

Fair point but I had the opposite experience. It sounds small, but the conversation matters

That's a good question for people with more experience than me.
