My 7-month experiment with java in Dublin

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 8 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

The framing feels off to me. Not terrible, just not convincing. I would test it for 6 days before deciding.

Can you expand on that a bit?

The experiment angle is what sold me. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Beautifully concise.

The Tuesday test is undefeated.

My wallet felt that.

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

I do not have a strong take, but the experiment detail is useful. The beautiful part is easy to underestimate.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. The social part surprised me too.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. The delightful constraint is probably the real story.

Thanks, that actually helped.

Anecdote beats theory here.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. I noticed the same thing in Berlin.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. I would write it down before changing anything else.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. That is where the boring checklist helps.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

Noted, and thank you.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. This is more useful on a tired quiet Sunday than on a perfect day.

I do not have a strong take, but the experiment detail is useful. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

The best answer in the thread, honestly.

That is the part people skip.

I am curious what changed your mind.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. The practical constraint is probably the real story.
