Web Dev · by Camille Dubois · 2026-10-09

A tiny win from Lisbon that made my week from my rainy evening notes

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. javascript got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

I tried this in Seoul with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Web Dev feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

This has cozy competence written all over it. My friend tried it in Jakarta and had the opposite result.

I do not have a strong take, but the tiny detail is useful. I keep a note about performance for exactly this reason.

@mangoRunner17 Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

That made the concept click.

This reminds me of something a friend in Toronto mentioned. The my desk detail changes the whole answer.
