Which cooking advice did you eventually ignore after a few failed attempts?

I wanted the fancy version with all the tools. What helped was more boring: one notebook, one reminder, and being willing to be clumsy while learning. Eight attempts is a tiny sample, but I seem to follow through when I keep the setup simple. Which advice did you end up ignoring?

You'll learn more from a simple version repeated three times than a perfect plan you never start. Focus on heat and timing, salt early, taste before adding more acid or sweetness, and write down your oven times—every kitchen lies a little.

For meal prep, cook components rather than full meals: grain, protein, sauce, crunchy topping. It stays less sad by Thursday.

Use medium heat and taste as you go. A lot of home cooking problems are not enough salt, too much heat, or needing some acid at the end.

that is fair, but I still worry about maintenance

Kind of wild how often heat is the whole issue

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot

There is probably a middle ground here. For me it came down to teh recipe. Texture is doing a lot of work here

I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

What would you change if you started over?

If it's dough-related, weigh the flour and watch the texture more than the clock. Humidity changes the result a surprising amount.
