The social part of indie gaming mattered more than the plan

I tried this with a friend in Toronto, then with a friend in Cape Town. Both times we noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

I can already hear the menu music.

I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are.

The learning part stood out to me. More useful on a tired weekend than a perfect day.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. The low-effort version is probably the keeper

The simple version can be underexplained. I keep notes about console gaming for this reason.

that is fair, but I still worry about maintenance

This is the gentle version of my rant

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines

I like this framing more than the top-level advice.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot

noted, and thank you

Oddly motivating. The real boss fight is finding a night everyone's free.

Removing a little friction goes a long way. Co-op makes almost anything better.

Good reminder that boring can be good. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me

The indie angle is what sold me

I don't have a strong take, but the learning experience helps. Could've saved me some trial and error.

Feels doable. I'd ask one more question before choosing an approach.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. I would write it down before changing anything else

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat. A little friction removed goes a long way

I would push back gently on the learning part

I don't have a strong take, but this seems useful on a tired commute, not just a perfect day.

Reminds me of something a friend in Berlin mentioned. The simplest version wins for me.

this depends heavily on budget, time and personality. I learned that one the expensive way

Thanks for making it less intimidating

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about learning. The social part surprised me too

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. A little friction removed goes a long way

Nice way to frame it. The low-effort version seems like the keeper.

I'd try it for ten days before deciding.
