Today I Learned · by Irene López · 2026-10-09

A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made without making it complicated

I tried this in Istanbul with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Today I Learned feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

I started this because my late summer felt a little stuck, and history seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

I disagree a bit. making matters, but the bigger issue is usually expectations. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

This is one of those ideas that looks great online and falls apart on Tuesday. The a coworking table detail changes the whole answer.

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. I would write it down before changing anything else.

@lanternMender94 Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.
