A gentle rant about people and expectations after 8 tries

I started this because my rainy evening felt a little stuck, and stories seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the setup for a while.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. stories got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. That is where the boring checklist helps.

Thanks for making it less intimidating.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. I keep a note about stories for exactly this reason.

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. The a coworking table detail changes the whole answer. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.
