Unpopular Opinions · by Rafael Almeida · 2026-09-01

The most cozy part of learning debate from my winter notes

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the prototype for a while.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. That is where the boring checklist helps.

I do not have a strong take, but the debate detail is useful. This pairs weirdly well with idli.
