A gentle rant about evidence and expectations

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. questions got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where learning stopped feeling new.

I disagree a bit. rant matters, but the bigger issue is usually expectations. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink expectations. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Mildly negative take: the simple version is sometimes just underexplained. The my desk detail changes the whole answer.

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

Big fan of this approach. I would love to see a follow-up after 4 weeks.

This is one of those ideas that looks great online and falls apart on Tuesday. I would love to see a follow-up after 3 weeks.

The kindness in this post is lovely. The a neighborhood park detail changes the whole answer.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? I would test it for 2 days before deciding. I appreciate when people separate evidence from speculation.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 9 months. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

My first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. I am curious whether learning still feels good next month.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. That is where the boring checklist helps. This would be a great classroom example.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. It sounds small, but the routine matters.
