What mistake taught you the most about investing without fancy tools?

Tiny progress is still progress. Cheesy, but it helped when investing stopped feeling new.

What mistakes taught you something useful? I'm especially curious about lessons that hold up on a tired weekday, not just an ideal Sunday.

I'd think about cash flow, risk and flexibility rather than the perfect answer. A simple version repeated three times teaches you more than a perfect plan you never start.

My starting points: keep a month of expenses visible in a checking buffer, automate savings on payday, and avoid a plan that only works when life is perfect.
