She ordered for both of us without asking me

First date at a small Oaxacan place in LA. She's been going there for years and is friends with the owner. When the waiter came she said "we'll do the tlayuda, the mole negro and two mezcal palomas" and handed back the menus. I hadn't even opened mine.

Everything was incredible, one of the best meals I've had. But I'm vegetarian on weekdays (long story) and it was a Tuesday. I ate the mole anyway.

Friends are split. Half say she's confident and it's charming, half say it's controlling. I'm somewhere in between. Help

confident and charming if she asked "mind if I order? I know the menu" first. controlling if she just did it. sounds like the second one

I love when someone orders for me at a place they know. less decisions. green

same, my partner does this and I've had the best meals of my life. but she asks first

🚩 small but real. first date is where you find out what the other person wants, not decide it for them

it's a restaurant order not a life decision lol

on a first date it's kind of a little preview of decision making though

a preview of her having great taste maybe

I'd marry someone who is friends with the owner of a good oaxacan place. that's a lifetime of good tables

the mezcal palomas were a power move tbh

"vegetarian on weekdays" needs its own post

beige flag. she's a foodie. she will pick the restaurant forever, accept that now

you ate the mole anyway because you didn't want to make it awkward. that's the real issue. next time just say it

this. she can't respect a preference she doesn't know about
