His cat hissed at me and he said "she's usually a good judge of character"
Third date, first time at his place in Bristol. His cat, Biscuit, takes one look at me, hisses, and goes under the sofa. He goes "huh, she's usually a really good judge of character" and then laughs. I laughed too but internally I was like ???
Was it a joke? A test? Is the cat the real decision maker in this relationship?
UPDATE: by the end of the night Biscuit was asleep on my coat. He said "see, she's just slow to trust." I said "like you?" and he went red. Still want your votes on the original comment though

the cat sleeping on your coat is the cat version of "I'm keeping her"

cats hiss at new people all the time, it's about your smell and a change in their space, not your character. biscuit doesn't hate you

also if you want to win a cat over try a slow blink. there was a study from sussex where cats were more likely to approach people who slow blinked at them

idk "she's a good judge of character" right after she hisses at you is objectively funny. I'd have laughed

joke or not I'd be more interested in how he treats you when Biscuit isn't around 😅
